This plant is prolific where I live here on the Sunshine Coast in South East Queensland in Australia. It is naturalised in many regions of the world and is thought to be of tropical American origin. It is common in Oceania, Asia, Africa, North, South and Central America, the Caribbean and Europe (where it is less common).
